Early indicators prove that customer demand is high for Sun’s AMD Opteron based systems with more than 1500 software downloads of Oracle 10g for Solaris 9 x86 in just a few weeks. Last year Ellison and McNealy outlined the companies’ agreement to provide low-cost offerings to the marketplace and delivering Oracle Database 10g on Solaris OS for x86 is the first major milestone.

Additionally, the companies are announcing the general availability of Oracle Database 10g for Solaris 9 OS for x86 systems.
